Inshore fishing is producing catches of speckled trout, red drum, black drum and sheepshead.


Bottom fishing is producing catches of black sea bass, beeliners and triggerfish. Gulf Stream fishing is producing catches of wahoo when the boats are able to get offshore.


TOPSAIL ISLAND


Joe Johnston reports speckled trout are being caught in the creeks on Mirrolure MR 17’s and Rapala X-Raps. Red drum are in large schools in the marsh creeks and are being caught on paddle tails jigs and cut bait.

SNEADS FERRY AND NEW RIVER


Captain Allen Jernigan reports the winter red drum bite is in full swing.


The reds are schooled up and will bite a variety of soft plastics and gold spoons. The speckled trout bite has been a little sporadic over the past couple of days due to the recent cold weather. Some of the best baits have been Mirrolure MR 17’s, Rapala X-Raps and imitation shrimp.

EMERALD ISLE


Captain Bobby Bourquin reports fishing along the Crystal Coast continues to be on the slow side due to weather conditions and rough seas.


The boats that have been able to hit the weather window just right are reporting catches of wahoo in the Gulf Stream. The mahi should begin showing up before long. Bottom fishing is producing catches of black sea bass, beeliners and triggerfish.

CRYSTAL COAST-SWANSBORO TO MOREHEAD CITY-INSHORE/NEARSHORE


Captain Chad Morgan reports the speckled trout fishing continues to be awesome in the creeks and in the rivers.


School of red drum are stacking up around the inlets, marshes and in the surf.


Gulp baits have worked best for the red drum. Black drum and sheepshead are being caught around various structure on fresh shrimp.
