Anglers reported some excellent fishing across area waters over the past week.
Inshore fishing is producing catches of speckled trout, red drum and some spots. Surf fishing is producing catches of red drum, spots and pompano. The piers also saw some spot runs over the past week. Fishing at the nearshore rocks and reefs is producing catches of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, false albacore, grouper and black sea bass. Gulf Stream fishing is producing outstanding catches of wahoo, along with sailfish, blackfin tuna and mahi.
Joe Johnston reports the speckled trout bite is starting to get hot and large red drum are being caught in the surf on cut bait.
Sarah Jackson caught 123 spots on Sea View pier last Thursday night and also reported catches of red drum and pompano while surf fishing last Sunday.
Offshore bottom fishing has been great and is producing nice catches of grouper with several citation fish being caught over the past week.

Captain Allen Jernigan reports fishing continues to be good as we head into fall.
Inshore fishing is producing catches of speckled trout and red drum. Best baits have been topwater lures and scented soft plastics. Some spots are being caught in the waterway and off the piers.

Captain Bobby Bourquin reports fishing along the Crystal Coast has been really good over the past week.
Fishing at the rocks and artificial reefs is producing catches of king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, false albacore, grouper and black sea bass. Gulf Stream fishing is seeing a great wahoo bite. In addition to the wahoo, boats fishing along the Break are reporting catches of mahi, sailfish and blackfin tuna.

MOREHEAD CITY OFFSHORE AND NEARSHORE
Captain Bill Dillon reports the wahoo bite has been off the hook along the Break.
In addition to the wahoo, Gulf Stream fishing is producing catches of blackfin tuna, some mahi, king mackerel and barracuda.
