Morehead City has been named third best 4th of July fishing destination by FishingBooker.com

FishingBooker, America’s largest website for booking fishing charters, announced the best 4th of July fishing destinations.

According to the website - We crafted this list for those who want to go outdoors, celebrate the nation’s birthday and catch some great fish. Without any further ado, let’s see which places made the list and why Morehead city is one of them!"

In Morehead City, the celebration lasts for a week and is filled with original shows, festivals, live concerts and family-friendly events. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can go for a dive and explore the wreck of the historic German WWII submarine, U-352.

And what about fishing? Well, as you approach the city, you’ll be greeted by a large welcome sign that states that you’ve arrived in Fishermen’s Paradise - and we can’t argue that! Just north of the city, the Newport Marshes offer some of the best redfish bites on the East Coast. Especially in July, you can reel in some inshore specials - spotted seatrout, black drum and sheepshead. If you decide to head out to the open water, you’ll have a chance to catch Spanish mackerel, cobia, jacks and even hammerhead and mako sharks.
