HAVELOCK - In just his second basketball game of the year, back from the Shrine Bowl, Anthony Harris made sure that his Havelock basketball team left with a win Thursday night against rival West Craven.

Harris nailed four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 37 points on the night in Havelock's 74-64 victory.

With about five minutes left in the game, West Craven had cut Havelock's double-digit lead down to just two points.

That's when Harris swished a pair of threes and pushed the lead back up to eight.

"It's my last one (season) so I gotta do it for the team," Harris said.

"Basketball relieves my stress and I felt like my shot was good tonight, felt good in warmups and shootaround."

Rams' head coach Matt Handley picked up his second career win as he's in his innaugural year leading the program.

Handley knows how tough the wins are in this rivalry.

"The Campbell twins (Latrell and Laqueze) are as good as offensive players as you're going to go against and we were just able to play well and smart down the stretch, Ant (Harris) got hot and we got the win," Handley said.

"I didn't change anything there to stop the comeback, I just let them go and told them to stay calm and play our game."

Shakur Frazier led the support of Harris scoring for Havelock with 12 points.

Laqueze Campbell led West Craven with 28 points on the night, Latrell Campbell chipped in 15 and Sheldon Yates added 10.

"Give credit to coach Handley for what they did, they are strong kids man, they've been in the weight room and they used that strength tonight against us well," West Craven coach David Fernandez said.

"When we made our push there in the fourth quarter, that's when he (Harris) got hot and hit like four threes in a row and sometimes there isn't much of an answer for that. It was good for us though, we'll see that kind of effort from opponents in our conference."

Havelock (2-1) and West Craven (4-2) will have a return matchup in a week as they open up against each other in the annual Craven County Holiday Hoops Classic on the 27th.
