Anglers reported a great week of fishing along area waters. Inshore fishing is producing good catches of speckled trout, black drum, bluefish, flounder, sheepshead and red drum.
Spanish mackerel are being caught along the beaches on Clarkspoons and jigs. Larger Spanish mackerel and king mackerel are being caught on live bait around the inlets and at the hard bottom areas.
Fishing at the nearshore reefs is and hard bottom areas is producing catches of flounder and black sea bass. Nearshore fishing is also producing catches of mahi, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, cobia, barracuda and some sailfish.
Bottom fishing is producing catches of black sea bass, flounder and grouper. Gulf Stream fishing is producing catches of tuna, mahi, sailfish and blue marlin.
CRYSTAL COAST-SWANSBORO TO MOREHEAD CITY-INSHORE/NEARSHORE
Capt. Jeff Cronk reports beautiful weather has offered excellent fishing for anglers over the past week. Inshore fishing is producing catches of red drum, flounder, speckled trout, sheepshead, bluefish and black drum.
The sheepshead and black drum are being caught around the bridges and docks on live fiddler crabs and sand fleas. The speckled trout are being caught around the oyster beds in the rivers and in the deeper channels behind the beaches on live shrimp fisher under slip corks rigs along with artificial shrimp.
The red drum and flounder can be caught in the shallow bays behind the beaches and in the creek mouths on spinner baits and 1/8-1/4-ounce jig heads tipped with Gulp baits or popping cork rigs with live shrimp and live finger mullet.
Spanish mackerel are being caught along the beaches on Clarkspoons and by casting spec rigs or other small metal jigs. on jigs. King mackerel and Spanish mackerel in the 4- to 6-pound range are being caught at the hard bottom areas and around the inlets on live menhaden and other live bait.
Bottom fishing at the artificial reefs and hard bottom areas is producing catches of black sea bass, flounder and assorted bottom fish. Two hook bottom rigs with fresh shrimp or mullet can be used for the sea bass and other bottom fish.
Two-ounce bucktails tipped with Gulp baits has been effective on the flounder and black sea bass.

Capt. Bobby Bourquin reports fishing has not changed much during the past week. Nearshore fishing is producing catches of Spanish mackerel, cobia, barracuda, mahi and some sailfish.
The king mackerel fishing continues to be good but not as many of the larger kings are being caught. Bottom fishing is producing catches of black sea bass, flounder and grouper. Gulf Stream fishing is producing catches of mahi, tuna, sailfish and blue marlin.

Joe Johnston reports ladyfish are being caught in the bays and around the docks on topwater lures and live bait. Red drum are being caught on live bait and topwater lures. Flounder are being caught on live bait and bucktails tipped with Gulp baits.
Spanish mackerel are being caught early in the mornings and late in the evenings on jigs and Clarkspoons.

MOREHEAD CITY OFFSHORE AND NEARSHORE
Capt. Bill Dillon reports Gulf Stream fishing is producing nice catches of mahi. The captain and crew of the Beagle landed 36 mahi on one recent charter.
