To justify separating children from their parents who crossed the border illegally, Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated on June 14 in Fort Wayne, Ind., “I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order.”

Most assuredly, I agree we all should be law-abiding citizens. But doing what is right and doing what is just is more biblical.

You see, Attorney General Sessions skipped over chapter 5 in Acts where Peter and the other apostles state, “We must obey God rather than man.”

Oh, and he missed Jesus saying, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

He forgot all the references in the Old Testament that speak of treating others in a moral and just way.

Indeed the immigration issue is complicated, and there is no easy solution. But breaking up families and causing untold stress on children and their parents is not the answer.
