The North Carolina Air National Guard and 2nd Marine Air Wing will conduct flyover salutes to foodbank workers, medical staff and other frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.


The Guard flyover Thursday will be performed by a C-17 plane, according to a release by the Guard. The planned route will start over Asheville in the western part of the state before heading to Wilmington and circling back to Charlotte.


Along the way, the route will include medical facilities in Jacksonville and Kinston. It will fly over food banks in Asheville, Raleigh and Charlotte, among other cities and facilities.


Fighter jets from 2nd MAW will fly over CarolinaEast in New Bern, Camp Lejeune and Cartert Health Care, according to information about the plans.


Locations in ENC slated to receive the Air National Guard flyover include Vidant Medical Center in Greenville at 12:21 p.m.; Caswell Development Center in Kinston at 12:28 p.m.; Onslow Memorial Hospital at 12:35 p.m.; and New Hanover Regional Medical Center at 12:48 p.m., according to the North Carolina Air National Guard. Times are subject to change.


Cherry Point’s flyover is slated to start with CarolinaEast at noon.
