Major David McFadyn said that an initial search of the area had been done Monday, Feb. 3. Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes and Craven EMS director Stanley Kite worked together with searchers from several volunteer ambulance and fire companies. One sheriff’s dog, Ringo, and another K-9 from Lenoir County assisted with the search, as is a Highway Patrol helicopter. McFadyn estimated about 30 men and women were involved in the search.

Iinvestigators are also chasing down leads.

"Nobody’s heard from him, which is very unusual," he said.

"We just want to make sure we’ve done a thorough search," McFadyn said. "We’ve had a lot of good cooperation from the community.

"We certainly want to locate Mr. Norris for his benefit and for his family’s."

Anyone with information on Norris is asked to call the Craven County Sheriff’s Office at 252-633-2537 or 252-633-0498.
