Early voting is underway for the second primary in the special election to fill the vacant North Carolina 3rd District Congressional seat.
This primary is for the Republican party nomination only. The nominations for the Democratic and Libertarian parties were decided April 30, but a second primary for the Republican nomination is needed because no candidate received more than 30 percent of the primary votes.
The second primary for Republican candidates Greg Murphy and Joan Perry will be held July 9.
Here's where voters in Eastern North Carolina can cast their votes:
Craven County Board of Elections, 406 Craven St. in New Bern: June 19-21, June 24-28, July 1-3 and July 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Lenoir County Board of Elections meeting room at 11-C Herritage St. in Kinston, June 19-22, June 24-29, July 1-3 and July 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Onslow County Board of Elections, 246 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville: June 19-21, June 24-28, July 1-3 and July 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All registered Republicans in the 3rd Congressional District may vote in the second primary. Unaffiliated voters in the district may also vote in the second primary as long as they did not vote in either the Democratic or Libertarian primary in April.
There are no open registrations or party changes allowed for the second primary.
