1. Beaufort Pirate Invasion

The Beaufort Pirate Invasion is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Beaufort. The event includes a variety of activities, including the Pirate Parlays ticketed dinner for $20 on Friday and Saturday, and the Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle o’ Run on Saturday. More than 100 Pirate and militia re-enactors will roam the town during the event. Living history demonstrations are planned at the Beaufort Historical Site on Turner Street and in Eury Park, across from town hall on Front Street. The Blackbeard and Queen Anne’s Revenge exhibit will be open at the N.C. Maritime Museum. Musical entertainment, a children’s area and Pirate school, costume contest, storytelling, period encampments, wild animals exhibit, face-painting and a variety of food and other vendors are part of the event as well. At 5 p.m. Friday at Grayden Paul and Eury parks, the Spanish attack of Beaufort in 1747 will be commemorated. 2. Outdoor Movie Night

The Barnyard in Newport hosts an Outdoor Movie Night from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday. Those attending can bring their own snacks, drinks, chairs and blankets. Pets and alcohol are prohibited. 3. YPG River Jam

The finale of the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Concert Series is slated for Friday at the New Bern Farmers Market, 421 S. Front St., New Bern. The gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $15. The Embers featuring Craig Woolard and Jupiter Jones headline the show. Tickets are available at Mitchell Hardware, 215 Craven St., cash and check only. Tickets are also at the chamber office, 316 S. Front St. There will be no refunds, no re-entry, no pets except service animals, no weapons, food, drink or coolers. 4. St. John’s Lodge Fundraiser

St. John’s Lodge No. 3 of New Bern is having a fundraiser Saturday night at the New Bern Farmers Market with an inviting theme — Eat, Drink and be Giving. The fundraiser is to help with refurbishing the lodge building, corner of Hancock and Johnson streets. Tickets for the 6 p.m. event are $35, or $25 with a Masonic Lodge Membership Card. Tickets are available at Blackbeard’s Triple Play Restaurant & Bar, 415 S. Front St. Also, members of St. John’s Lodge will have tickets to sell at the door. A 50/50 drawing and silent auction will be on going as well. The event also includes a silent auction. A ticket includes dinner and beverages by Moore's Ole Tyme Barbecue. More beverages will be offered by R.A. Jeffreys and Coastal Beverage. The entertainment will be by two top local bands — Bipolar Express and 3 Day Weekend.


5. August ArtWalk
