3 Croaker Festival: The 38th annual Croaker Festival is Friday through Sunday in Oriental. Opening ceremonies are at 4 p.m. Friday with the Pamlico Chorale and Community Band performing. The Croaker Queen and Little Miss Minnow pageant follows and the night ends with Saltwater Gold playing classic rock, rhythm and blues. Saturday highlights are the 10 a.m. parade, followed by a concert by the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band on the main stage at Lou Mac Park on South Avenue. Afternoon live music will include Moonshine, Brandt Island Strings, Moore's Creek Bluegrass Band and Ken Belangia. Food vendors will be on hand, along with more than 70 arts and crafts vendors. The Kids Park opens at 11 a.m. with mechanical rides, bounce houses, and some free activities. The night ends with a street dance featuring The Embers with Craig Woolard. A fireworks display over Oriental Harbor is set for 9:45 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, a Community Church is at 10 a.m. on the Main Stage.
4 Footloose on the Neuse:
The Trent Cadillac - GMC Footloose on the Neuse Summer Concert Series, presented by New Bern Parks and Recreation, returns Friday to Union Point Park, 210 East Front St., New Bern. The featured band will be Jukebox Revolver. The band’s song list covers genre ranging from the 1950s to today. The free show starts at 6:30 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. 5 Fort Macon State Park: Fort Macon has scheduled a variety of programs for this weekend. Coastal Fish of Carolina is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the bathhouse at Fort Macon. The program explores the fish that can be caught off the coast. The Friends of Fort Macon Summer Concert Series features the band Telluride beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The band blends beach, bluegrass and country music. Those attending can bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic dinners. Alcohol and pets are prohibited. Fort Macon will offer musket firing demonstrations from 10 to 11 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday inside the fort. Fort Macon is located on the east end of Atlantic Beach.
