ASHEBORO — The Randolph-Asheboro YMCA, 343 N.C. 42 N., Asheboro, has the following events and programs lined up for the summer:

* 15th Annual Kids ‘Tri’ at the ‘Y’: Tri-Athletes ages 6-14 will swim, bike and run age-appropriate distances on Saturday, June 2. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. Tri-Athletes in place at 8:45 a.m. First event at 9 a.m. Participants will receive a medal, T-shirt and goody bag after the race. Register now at the YMCA. Free and open to the community.

* Invest in People Scholarship Program raffle: Want to give back to your community and help others in need? Purchase raffle tickets at the Front Desk of the YMCA and help support the “Investing in People” Scholarship Program. Prizes include: Char-Broil Performance two-burner gas grill, Troy-Bilt 21-inch self-propelled push lawnmower, Samsung Galaxy 9.6-inch tablet (16GB, black), $100 BP gift card and $150 Walmart gift card. Drawing will be held Friday, Aug. 31. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

* Splash Pad movie nights: Summer Movie Night Series at the YMCA includes: Friday, June 22, “Ferdinand”; Friday, July 13, “The Emoji Movie”; and Friday, Aug. 3, Walt Disney’s “The Princess & the Frog.” Splash Pad will be open from 7:30-8:15 p.m. Bring enough seating for your family and plan to be seated by 8:45 p.m. to secure a spot. Movies begin at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.). Concessions will be available for sale. Free and open to the community.

* YFit Camp weight loss and nutrition program: Doing cardio more than 20 minutes and not getting results? Then YFit Camp is for you. This six-week informational program teaches you how to transform your body by toning up and trimming down. Class size is limited. Sign up early. Next class runs from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays from July 10-Aug. 14. Member registration begins Tuesday, June 19. Public registration begins Tuesday, June 26. Cost: $50 for members and $100 for the public.

* Summer Day Camp Information/Q & A session: Thinking about summer camp options? Want to know more about the Y’s fun-filled weekly themes and activities? Have general questions about the program? Join other parents at the Summer Day Camp Information/Q & A Session on Monday, June 4, at 6:15 p.m.

* Building Better Balance with Jason Albright: On Tuesday, June 5, at 11 a.m., Jason will discuss the importance of proper balance, the obstacles that can hinder keeping a safely balanced body and how to prevent a fall that takes away your independence. The statistics are startling. Each year, one in three seniors over the age of 65 experiences at least one fall. Each year, one in two seniors over the age of 80 experiences a fall. Don’t be a part of the statistics. Join us at the seminar and find out if you are at risk of experiencing a fall. Free and open to the community.

* Me, Myself and Lies Bible study: On Tuesdays, June 12, 19 and 26 and July 17, 24 and 31, at 9:30 a.m., this study, facilitated by Kathryn Simpson, will be held in the Community Room. Open to members and non-members. Cost: $10 for the book. Books will be available on the first day. Childcare: Free for members and $3 per hour for guests.

Rather than struggling with self-esteem, body image, stress and other unhealthy thoughts and emotions, learn to replace the lies you may have been telling yourself with the truth from God’s Word.”

* Splash Pad opens for the season: Visit our lobby for a flyer or view the 2018 Splash Pad hours, information and non-member guest fees on the website below.

* Adult painting class, “Flowers on a bottle”: Register to create your own beautiful glass artwork. This class, on Wednesday, June 6, from 9 a.m.-noon, are led by Nina Lathe. She will assist in painting your own version of this month’s theme. Cost: $6 for members and $10 for the public. Space is limited to the first 15. Sign up at the Front Desk.

* Summer Day Camp registration: Registration is ongoing throughout the summer. For ages 5-12. Full- and part-time options available and multi-child discounts. Pay only for the weeks you attend. Field trips, swimming, Splash Pad and more. Cost for full-time: $95 a week for members; and $120 a week for the public. Cost for part-time (Monday, Wednesday and Friday only): $60 a week for members; and $85 a week for the public. Part-time cost does not include field trips. Info:

* Midnight Basketball registration: All players must be enrolled in the Randolph County School System, Asheboro City Schools or home school and be 8-18 years old. Sponsored by United Way of Randolph County. Register: Now through Monday, June 18. Cost: $15.

* Swimming lessons for preschool/progressive: Children die every day because of drowning. YMCA Swim Lessons provide a lifetime appreciation for swimming and active living. Positive, fun activities and lessons help to build physical and social skills with both children and adults and help prepare them to be safe around the water. * Senior Functional Fitness Program: Program dates: July 9-Sept. 20. Cost: Free for members (including Silver Sneaker and Silver & Fit); and $50 for the public. Space is limited to the first 18 registrants. Registration packets available at Front Desk. Functional fitness is a level of muscle strength/endurance, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular efficiency which allows us to safely and effectively perform activities of daily living (ADLS). Activities of Daily Living are the basic tasks of everyday life that keep us living independently. Participants must be 65 or older, and able to walk without aids.

* Specialty sport camps at the Y: Week one is baseball/softball and golf/tennis. Week two is basketball and swim skills. Week three is fitness and agility. Week four is soccer and volleyball. Each week coaches and professionals will lead sessions for the campers. Hours are from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost for a full week: $75 for members and $120 for the public. Cost for two or three days: $50 for members and $80 for the public. Already enrolled in Y Day Camp? It is just an additional $15 a week to participate.
