1. Brews and Bites
The Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow has scheduled its annual Brews and Bites fundraiser for 5 p.m. Friday on the riverfront in New Bern.
The event includes local craft beers, live music and food from area food trucks.
General admission tickets are $35, while VIP tickets are $50. Proceeds go to support the efforts of Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow to protect and grow Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

2. The Wizard of Oz
The Center of the Performing Arts, 316 E Main St, Havelock, presents The Wizard of Oz as its spring recital at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The performance puts a new twist to an old tale. Tickets are $5, cash only, available for pre-purchase and at the door.

3. Plant Swap
The Havelock Appearance Commission annual Plant Swap is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Havelock City Park.
Residents can come to the park with their plants, seedlings, garden tools, containers and books to exchange with other residents. The appearance commission will also have a table with selected items for residents to take for their own gardens.

4. Plant Sale
Havelock High School has scheduled a Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and again May 5 at the school’s greenhouse off Fontana Boulevard.
Plants available for purchase include petunias, portulacas, impatiens, sunpatiens, begonias, boston ferns, coleus, herbs, veggies, succulents and more.
Proceeds go to support the school’s agriculture classes.

5. Birding Cruise
The N.C. Coastal Federation has scheduled White Oak River Birding Cruises on Sunday, and again on May 20 and June 10.
Cruises will be 10 a.m. to noon and include a tour through the White Oak River and Bogue Sound estuaries on a covered ferry boat. Participants will be able to see resident and migratory shorebirds, warblers, raptors and waterfowl. Participants may also see dolphins or other wildlife. The cruises are geared toward adults and older children.
The cost is $20 for federation members and $25 for non-members.
Participants will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Hammocks Beach State Park Visitor Center in Swansboro to board the boat. Participants should bring their own binoculars, dress appropriately for the weather and bring their own water and snack.
