Newport Historical Museum to host fundraiser
1. Newport Historical Museum fundraiser
The Newport Historical Museum has scheduled its annual barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
The $10 dinner will include a half barbecue chicken, potato salad, green beans, roll, dessert and tea. Take-out plates will also be available.
For those eating inside, musical entertainment will be provided by Morris Willis, Bob Lowery, Pauline Smith and Jenny Bell.
Proceeds go to support the Newport Historical Museum.

2. Shriners Parade
The annual Sudan Shriners Parade is slated for Saturday in downtown New Bern.
It will feature more than 40 parade units from Shriners from throughout Eastern North Carolina.
The parade steps off at noon and the public is invited.
The Shriners will also introduce their new Potentate for 2018 on Saturday.
The parade and other events are part of the Sudan Shriners annual winter gathering in New Bern, which is the headquarters for about 5,000 Shriners in more than 40 Eastern North Carolina counties.
The Tryon Palace Foundation has scheduled WinterFeast from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at the N.C. History Center, 529 South Front St., in New Bern.
The event features steamed oysters with samples of various chowders, shrimp and grits and jambalaya. The indoor/outdoor event includes a cash bar along with a DJ and cornhole games.
Tickets are $50 each and are available at the N.C. History Center. Proceeds support the Tryon Palace Foundation.

4. Winter Festival
The Mac Daddy’s Winter Festival is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The event features a variety of free indoor games and activities, including face-painting, music, cake walk and contests.
Mac Daddy’s is located off N.C. 24 in Cape Carteret.

5. Whiskey Diablo concert
The band Whiskey Diablo is scheduled to perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at the Cru Wine Bar, 120 Turner St., in Beaufort.
The Charleston, S.C., group plays a mix of country, jazz, swing and rock music. The performance is part of the band’s East Coast tour.
