A Havelock man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after he shot his brother Monday evening, according to the Craven County Sheriff's Office.

Craven County sheriff deputies arrested Gary Nolan, 58, of 275 Hodge Road, which is located off Adams Creek Road in eastern Craven County about 11 miles from Havelock.

Deputies were called to 275 Hodge Road in reference to a report of a shooting around 5:30 p.m. They found Cornelius Nolan, 62, from the Harlowe area, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern where he was treated for his injuries and released, according to the hospital.

Gary Nolan was jailed under a $100,000 bond.

The Havelock Police Department and Havelock EMS as well as the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, along with deputies.
