Foosball tournament scheduled for Friday, Saturday

1. Folk arts concert

Moors and McCumber are scheduled to perform as part of the Down East Folk Arts Society concert series Friday at the Trent River Coffee Company in New Bern and Saturday at Joslyn Hall at Carteret Community College in Morehead City.

Shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and doors are open at 6:30 p.m. at both venues.

General admission is $16, active-duty and society members are $13, and full-time students are $10.

2. BBQ in Blue Jeans

The BBQ in Blue Jeans fundraiser for the New Bern Firemen’s Museum is scheduled for Friday at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 S. Front St., New Bern.

Advance tickets are $30 and $35 at the door. The event will include dinner, open bar and two dance bands.

Proceeds benefit the New Bern Firemen’s Museum, located at the corner of Hancock and Broad streets in New Bern.

Tickets are on sale at the museum, convention center, New Bern Fire and Rescue Department and Mitchell Hardware.

3. Art Opening

The Rescue Me Art Opening is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Carolina Artist Gallery, 800 Evans St., in Morehead City.

The show, which runs through March 10, showcases art in various mediums that focuses on rescue animals and those who help rescue animals. A portion of sales from the show will go to Austin Veterinary Outreach and Rescue.

Prizes will be awarded to artists in various categories.

4. Foosball Challenge

The Crystal Coast Foosball Challenge is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at The Beach Tavern in Atlantic Beach.

Proceeds go to support the Hope Mission of Carteret County. Donations of non-perishable food and dry goods will be accepted from spectators as well.

Participants will compete for $1,000 in cash and prizes.

5. Coastal Cleanup

A Coastal Cleanup event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Hoop Pole Creek in Atlantic Beach.

The N.C. Coastal Federation is putting on the event in which volunteers will pick up assorted trash and debris along the trail and adjacent shoreline.

Hoop Pole Creek is a coastal creek, salt marsh and maritime forest preserve that includes various fish and wildlife.
