1. Blues band to perform
The East Coast Rhythm and Blues Band is scheduled to perform a free concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Jaycee Park, 807 Shepard St., on the Morehead City Waterfront.
The band plays a mix of rhythm and blues music.
The performance is part of the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series.

2. Market Jam
The annual Market Jam is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the New Bern Farmers Market, 421 S. Front St., New Bern.
The concert features Nashville recording artist and American Idol contestant Emily Minor, with opening musical performances from Matt Tucker and 3 Degrees East.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with music starting at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children age 12 and under get in free with an adult.
Lawn chairs are welcome, but coolers are not. Full concessions will be available.

3. Jon Shain in concert
Piedmont blues singer Jon Shain is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Friday at the Trent River Coffee Company in New Bern.
Shain, from Durham, will perform with F.J. Ventre on bass.
The doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $12.
Shain will perform from his new CD “Crow the Dawn.”
Based in Chapel Hill, Ventre plays upright and electric bass and sings with several acts from The Triangle area, including Shain.

4. Rick Huff and Jenna
The father-daughter duo of Rick Huff and Jenna is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Brown Pelican, 411 Broad St., New Bern.
Admission to the performance is free.

5. Buddy Longboard Classic
The 2016 Buddy Longboard Classic is scheduled for this weekend at Oceanana Pier in Atlantic Beach.
The event includes Friday night surf movies on the beach and a beach party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday featuring the reggae rock band Monjah.
The Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation, which supports the educational and humanitarian needs of the East Coast surfing community.
