Broken air-conditioning units have been repaired

The Havelock Senior Center is scheduled to reopen Wednesday now that repairs on the air-conditioning have been made.

The center closed after lightning hit the air-conditioning unit on July 15. One air conditioner was replaced for $11,841, and two others needed repairs.

Temperatures inside the center had climbed as outdoor high temperatures stretched into the middle and upper 90s, making the facility unsafe for use.

Lunchtime meal service and other regular activities are scheduled to resume Wednesday.

The Havelock Senior Center is located on Trader Avenue between West Main Street and Miller Boulevard.

Anyone with any questions or who needs any information can call the Havelock Recreation Department at 444-6429.
