Gun was taken, victim was assaulted
Havelock police are looking for two suspects involved in an armed robbery and home invasion Saturday morning.
Brandon Joseph Daniels, 26, of Havelock, is one of two men who police say participated in the home invasion around 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Tall Pine Road, according to a release from the Havelock Police Department.
Warrants have been issued for Daniels on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, conspiracy with unknown person to commit breaking and entering and robbery, and assault, according to the release.
According to the release, one of the suspects knocked on the door of the home while another hid by the side of the house. When the victim attempted to shut the door, one suspect assaulted him, got into the house, and the second suspect followed. During the assault, the victim was hit over the head with a pistol, sustaining a minor injury.
The suspects took an additional handgun from the living room of the home and left the area in a champagne-colored car. Nothing else was stolen from the home.
Havelock Police Chief David Magnusson said the suspects appeared to be looking for someone other than the victim at the house.
He said the victim, whose name was not released by police, ran from the house and was eventually picked up by his brother, who drove him to the police station.
Magnusson said that Daniels was the person who initially came to the door of the home, while the other suspect has not been identified.
“This was a legitimate robbery and it was violent,” said Magnusson. “It wasn’t a random kind of thing where the robber robbed a total stranger.”
Daniels is wanted on warrants for probation violations. He is listed as an absconder on the N.C. Department of Corrections website. He was given supervised probation for 12 months in October 2015 for driving while impaired and resisting an officer in Craven County. No other record was noted.
Daniels is described as 5-foot-6, about 165 pounds.
