Reopening date remains uncertain
A broken air-conditioning system has caused the closure of the Havelock Senior Center.
There is no time estimate on repairs, so the center will remain closed until further notice, according to a release from the city.
The broken air-conditioning system was caused by storm damage, according to the release, and prevents the building from maintaining a temperature of 72 degrees, thus making it unsafe for seniors to be in the building.
For seniors in need of lunch meal service, the center will be providing 15 box meals at noon using the standard prioritization process, according to the release. Those who have signed up for meals but no longer require one are asked to contact the senior center or call the Havelock Recreation Center at 444-6429.
