Papas, Hagel pace the Rams

Ryan Papas and Adrianna Hagel were Havelock’s top finishers in the Coastal 3A Conference Cross Country Championships held Thursday at Northeast Creek Park in Jacksonville.

Papas finished 14th overall in the boys competition, completing the run in 17 minutes, 48 seconds. Havelock’s other finishers included Eugenio Cotto (18:52) in 28th, Zachariah Drysdale (18:53) in 29th, Jacob Rowe (19:21) in 36th, Jacob Stain (19:38) in 40th, Krystian Kinsay (19:50) in 41st, John Ballarta (19:58) in 44th, Justin Sabdo (20:15) in 47th, Angelo Servantez (23:24) in 53rd and Cameron Gumbel (23:50) in 54th.

The individual boys champion was Lane Dukes (16:28) of White Oak.

As a team, the Havelock boys finished in sixth place with 142 points. West Carteret won the conference championship with 44 points.

As for the Havelock girls, Hagel finished 10th overall in a time of 20:57. Other Havelock finishers included Michaelo Maradiaga (22:50) in 24th, Elizabeth Whitehead (24:54) in 39th, Erin Derry (26:04) in 43rd, and Kristelle Shepley (26:31) in 44th.

The individual girls champion was Emme Fisher (18:59) of West Carteret.

As a team, the Havelock girls finished sixth overall with 141 points. West Carteret won the conference championship with 27 points.
