Warrants out for arrest of Kareen Elliot

Law enforcement officers have identified the second of three suspects in an early Saturday morning home invasion in the Merritt community that left one suspect shot dead by the homeowner.

On Monday, investigators with the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the State Bureau of Investigations obtained warrants on Kareen Ramel Elliot, 37, of Frazier Town Road in the Harlowe community.

Elliott is the subject of an active warrant for first-degree burglary and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Pamlico investigators.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office at 745-3101.

Earlier, Pamlico investigators identified a 35-year-old Havelock man as the person shot and killed in the 3 a.m. home invasion Saturday at 3057 Trent Road in the Merritt community.

Upon arrival, investigators found Moses Ellis Tolvert III, who was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office and SBI conducted interviews and collected evidence over the weekend. Based on information obtained, it was determined that three individuals wearing masks entered the residence brandishing a weapon and demanding money and drugs.

During the exchange, one of the homeowners shot an intruder, resulting in Tolvert’s death. The other suspects left on foot in a 2012 to 2015 model year, dark blue Chrysler 200 that was seen leaving the area.
