Flooding cited as the reason

Craven County Schools will be closed on Monday, with officials citing flooding as the reason.

The area remains under a flood watch and wind advisory, according to the National Weather Service, as well as a coastal flood warning.

The area has experienced 13 consecutive days of rain, and the weather service is predicting more rain on Monday. Predictions  cause for anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rain Monday and Monday night.

Minor flooding has been reported in low-lying and flood-prone areas around Craven County.

There was no immediate word from school system officials on when the missed day would be made up.
