Predictions of heavy rain Friday prompt move
Havelock High School has rescheduled its home football game against West Carteret for 7 p.m. on Thursday, weather permitting.
A coastal storm is predicted to develop beginning Thursday, with heavy rain expected on Friday, prompting the school to make the schedule change. However, Mitch Williams, Havelock High's director of athletics, said rain during the day today and early on Thursday could prompt school officials to change the game again.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to take shape on Thursday and spread rain into the area. The heavier rain is expected on Friday and into Saturday.
With the football game being switched, Havelock's home soccer matches against West Carteret have been moved to today at Havelock High, with the junior varsity scheduled for 5 p.m. and the varsity to follow.
