Drive scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday
The American Red Cross has scheduled a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Havelock Moose Family Center at 1007 East Main St., in Havelock.
The drive is the final one in the area as part of National Preparedness Month in September. The goal is to collect blood donations and register regular blood donors to help ensure communities have adequate blood supplies for any emergency or during times of disaster.
The process and testing time of donated blood takes about 48 hours, meaning blood is needed on the shelves at the time a disaster strikes.
All blood types are needed but those with types AB, O negative, B negative and A negative are often those with the smallest supply.
To make an appointment to donate blood at Friday’s blood drive or for more information, go online to redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
