Driver apparently OK after receiving treatment at scene
A driver lost control and rolled his vehicle Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 70 near the Craven-Carteret county line.
According to the Newport Fire Department, which responded to the wreck, the unidentified man was briefly treated at the scene by paramedics but declined to be transported to the hospital.
The wreck happened about 2:30 p.m. when the white SUV was traveling westbound on U.S. 70. The vehicle ran off the road and flipped after going through a muddy ditch covered in reeds.
Only one vehicle appeared to have been involved. The driver was alone and managed to crawl out of the overturned car.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating and had no information on the name of the driver or if any charges would be filed.
