Retired MGySgt Salvator Valenti (Sam), 77, of St Clair Shores, Mich., formerly of Havelock and Morehead City, N.C., passed away on August 26th at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich.

Retired MGySgt Salvator Valenti (Sam), 77, of St Clair Shores, Mich., formerly of Havelock and Morehead City, N.C., passed away on August 26th at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Mich.

Survived by his wife, Tina Valenti of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; son, Peter S. Valenti of Havelock, N.C.; and daughters, Sandi Valenti-Hornaday of San Diego, Calif., and Victoria Valenti of Morehead City, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren in N.C., N.Y., Va., Calif., and Wisc. Preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Valenti in 2010.

Sam was a well-respected Aircraft Mechanic in the Marines and Civil Service at Cherry Point — stayed in N.C. after retiring for his children and the weather. He eventually went back home to the Detroit, Mich., area to be with his sisters and brother, all of whom are still living.
