The Havelock-Cherry Point Rotary Club held its annual reverse raffle and concert on April 24.

The fundraiser supports the club’s scholarship program as well as other nonprofit organizations and causes such as the Boys and Girls Club, Havelock High band, Thanksgiving meal program and the Havelock-Cherry Point Ministerial Outreach food pantry, among others. Money also goes to support Rotary’s CARTs program for Alzheimer’s disease research and the international Polio Plus effort to rid the world of that horrible disease.

The fundraiser would not have been possible without our sponsors BB&T, Stonebridge Dental Associates, Baldree’s Tire of Havelock, Jackson-Hewitt Tax Service of Havelock, Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative, 70 West Veterinary Hospital, Stricklin Law Firm, Zip-Thru, Furniture Distributors, CarolinaEast Health System, Donna Comer State Farm Insurance, G and H Tire and TAGG. We also had several sponsors who wanted to remain anonymous, and on behalf of the club, I want to thank all of them for their support.

We also received event support from Walmart in Havelock and Fat Fellas in Newport, and the club thanks the staff at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center as well as our entertainment for the night, Carl Newton and the Fifth Avenue Band.

We also want to thank the community members for their continued support of this event. We as a club would not be able to support the organizations and the causes we support without their help.

If anyone is interested in becoming a member of the Havelock-Cherry Point Rotary Club, join us at 7:30 a.m. each Thursday at Cherry Point United Methodist Church in Havelock.

Again, thanks to all those who support our efforts to help others.

Nathaniel Johnson, Treasurer, Havelock-Cherry Point Rotary Club
