Eight Havelock High athletes have qualified for the state 3A track and field championships.



Havelock’s girls had two individuals and one relay team qualify at Saturday’s 3A East Regional at Corinth Holders High School.



The boys had three individuals qualify for Friday’s state championships in Greensboro.



For the boys, Kyran Bowman won the high jump with a leap of six feet, four inches and Timo Togafau took third in the long jump (20-08) as the top four from each event advance to state.



Justin Wears placed second in the discus with a throw of 137 feet, eight inches. Destin Flloyd just missed out, as he came in fifth in the shot put.



Havelock’s girls were led by the fourth-place finishes of the 400-meter relay team (50.43 seconds) and the 800 team (1:46.57), consisting of Aigne Taylor, Olivia Kinsey, Nydia Brown and Nyesha Patillo.



Adrianna Hagel qualified individually after placing fourth in the 800-meter run (2:31.26). Kinsey and Arianna Turner barely missed the cut by placing fifth in the long jump and shot put, respectively.
