A candlelight vigil for a missing Havelock mother has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday at Havelock City Park.

Summer Dawn Swindell, 22, was reported missing on Tuesday. According to Havelock police, she left her Laurel Hill apartment on McCotter Boulevard with a person named Chad in a dark-colored SUV just after midnight early Tuesday morning. She told friends and family she would be gone just a couple of hours, but she has not been seen or heard from since, according to police.

Employees at the Walmart in Havelock where Swindell worked are organizing Sunday’s vigil and will be supplying the candles.

Swindell is described as 5-foot-2 and 125 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a tattoo on her right ankle with a blue star and pink star.

According to police, she left under circumstances that were unusual and out of character.

“We have no reason to think at this time that anything criminal has taken place,” Havelock Police Chief David Magnusson said Friday. “We’re treating this as a missing person’s case. Our investigation is diligent and ongoing, and we are following leads.”

Anyone with any information about Swindell can call the Havelock Police Department at 447-3212.
