Havelock Police have identified the victim and the alleged trigger man in a shooting Friday at Kelly Park apartments in Havelock.

Havelock Police have identified the victim and the alleged suspect in a shooting Friday at Kelly Park apartments in Havelock.

Javon Anthony Ward, 22, of the Havelock and Newport area, is being sought by police for the shooting Friday of Stevn Kyle Todd, 25, of Havelock, according to Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus.

Todd was in fair condition Monday at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Ward faces a charge assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, Cyrus said.

Ward is alleged to have shot Todd five times with a 9 mm pistol in the parking lot of the apartment complex off Shipman Road in Havelock following a fight between the two men.

The victim’s brother, who did not want to be identified, said his brother, known as “T,” had had surgeries for his wounds. The brother said that Friday’s altercation stemmed from a disagreement between the two men that started two weeks ago.

Cyrus said that Ward may be in possession of a handgun and has a history of eluding police, assault, resisting officers and weapons charges.

Ward is described as black, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds. He has a tattoo of the word “Savage” above his right eye, a teardrop tattoo near his left eye and a tattoo of the letters “MOB” near his right eye. Ward is thought to be hiding in the Newport or Havelock area.

“Ward should be considered armed and dangerous,” Cyrus said in a release. “Individuals should not attempt to apprehend Ward.”

Ward spent 16 months in jail on two counts of felonious common law robbery. He was released June 15, 2010. Ward also has convictions for misdemeanor assault and battery and driving while license revoked.
