Havelock had early chances against the Patriots, with one shot hitting the crossbar, and a header off a corner kick that was sent wide. Havelock’s best scoring chance came early in the first half on a penalty kick attempt by Miguel Diaz-Maurino. He shanked the kick wide right of the goal, and the Rams never got too close to another shot.

Meanwhile, the Patriots made good on their penalty kick in the first half, as Austin Fountain sent one low and into the back of the net for West Carteret’s first goal at the 18-minute mark.

Joe Corbett added a breakaway goal at the 33-minute mark for the 2-0 decision.

Havelock (4-7-2) is next scheduled to host Jacksonville on Thursday, while West Cartertet (5-6-2) travels to Richlands.
