There’s something noticeably different about East Carolina receiver Danny Webster.

The Havelock native played through his sophomore season with a knee brace following ACL surgery in 2011.

The brace is now gone, and Webster is looking forward to having a big season.

"Last year, I was giving it all I had, but it wasn’t anywhere near to what I have now," said Webster, who caught 34 passes for 322 yards and five touchdowns last year. "I’m excited to get the knee brace off and be back on the field at 100 percent."

Webster is expected to start at inside receiver for the Pirates this upcoming season.

Lincoln Riley, ECU’s offensive coordinator, said Webster had the best spring practices of any of the receivers. The former Ram quarterback caught eight passes for 93 yards in ECU’s Purple-Gold Spring Game in April.

"We have pretty high expectations for him," Riley said. "He’s come a long way physically and being consistent.
