In 13 seasons as head basketball coach for the Havelock Rams, Bill Fryczynski never had a team score 100 points in a game.

That streak ended on Friday when the Rams beat Jacksonville 104-64 in a Coastal 3A Conference game at Havelock High.

“This was just amazing,” Fryczynski said. “We are a good team. Our best offense is transition and we do that naturally. They are hard to stop.”

The victory gave Havelock at least a share of the conference title. A win at West Carteret Tuesday would earn the Rams the outright league championship, a feat Fryczynski never accomplished.

“It makes me nervous but I am confident in these guys,” Fryczynski said.

Sophomore Kyran Bowman scored 31 points, and three others posted double-digit points. Bowman netted 24 points in the first half.

“We tried everything we could to hold No. 1 (Bowman),” said Jacksonville assistant coach Chad Fonville. “He had a great night shooting the ball. You have to tip your hat to them.”
