“It feels great as a senior to be able to go back to Fayetteville. That’s what we have been working for all year,” Josh Cuthbertson said. “I know that in my last year, my team has one more chance at Rocky Mount.”

Demetres Abrams picked up three fouls in the first nine minutes of the game and could never get into a solid groove with his 3-point shot.

Abrams still scored 18 for the game, including eight in the decisive fourth quarter.

“The man who changed this game for us was Alkeim Harley,” West Craven coach Bryan Goehring said. “He came in and played great defense along with scoring eight points and really took the tempo of the game to where we wanted it.”

This victory marks the fourth time this season that West Craven has won an on-court war with Havelock.

“I’m definitely glad that I don’t have to see them again,” Goehring said with a smile.

“I think the difference was our bench. We were just a little bit deeper than they were.”
