“The key was the guys keeping their blocks,” Sharp said. “I’m real proud of the guys. They did good, and the backs stuck it up in there real hard, and I just enjoyed it.”

Havelock got on the board first on Cooper’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Tahj Clements and his two-point pass to Taquan Green.

“It was pretty cold, and I think it affected us at little bit,” Cooper said. “We made some changes at halftime and we did what we had to do to pull out the win in the second half. We couldn’t have done it without the linemen.”

West Craven’s only points came when Sharp slipped down in the end zone for a safety late in the second quarter.

“We started out a little slow, but I think the weather had a little bit to do with that,” Havelock coach Bob Sabdo said. “Once we got warmed up, we were able to get back to what we do right, and we were able to move the ball.

“I’m very proud of the guys. We made some adjustments at halftime, and they took those adjustments and we were able to put some points on the board.”
