Maryann Hoskins, a former Havelock High standout, capped a successful collegiate freshman season by being selected to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State College Division Softball Team.

Hoskins is a pitcher for Lenoir-Rhyne University, an NCAA Division II program competing in the South Atlantic Conference.

During her freshman campaign, Hoskins compiled a 17-8 record with a team-best 1.79 earned run average. She also added three saves.

In 176 innings, she struck out 164 batters. She also posted 10 shutouts in her 27 starts on the season.

Hoskins was also named to the all-conference team for the South Atlantic Conference.

Hoskins helped Lenoir-Rhyne to a 37-16 record on the season as well as the South Atlantic Conference championship. The Bears advanced to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament championship game before falling to Belmont-Abbey.

Hoskins enjoyed success during her prep career at Havelock High as well. The all-Coastal 3A Conference performer led the Rams to the fourth round of the state 3A playoffs during her senior season and an overall 22-5 record. It was the most successful season ever for a Havelock High softball team.
