The Hope for Chance Run/Walk is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Butterfly Kisses Pavilion in Newport.
Hope for Chance is a nonprofit organization designed to bring awareness to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It was founded by U.S. Marines Kyle and Michelle Moskiewicz when they lost their 3-month-old son Chance to SIDS. Their goal in forming the organization is that no other families ever have to go through the loss of a child due to SIDS.
The event includes a 5K run and 3K walk and is designed to commemorate Chance’s first birthday. Bounce houses, birthday games, cupcakes, raffles and information booths will also be part of the event.
The cost is $35 with proceeds going toward SIDS research and to parents who can’t afford a proper burial for their children.
Advance registration for the race can be done online at www.eventbrite.com/e/hope-for-chance-5k-run3k-walk-registration-10916998035?aff=es2.
The pavilion is located at 8115 U.S. 70 near J&S Landscaping in Newport.
