Havelock wrestlers get first conference victory

The Havelock High wrestling team picked up its first Coastal 3A Conference victory of the season Thursday night by beating White Oak 54-24 in Jacksonville.

With the victory, the Rams improve to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Havelock is scheduled to host a dual-team tournament beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Havelock High.

Results of the individual matches are: 106 pounds: Allen (WO) p. Day 1:05; 113: Barber (H) p. Langley 2:53; 120: Howard (H) won by forfeit; 126: Paley (H) p. Williams 3:19; 132: Drysdale (H) d. Colter 11-3; 138: Davis (H) d. Prather 12-4; 145: Hutchinson (H) p. Rodriguez 1:37; 152: Godette (H) d. Saul 24-14; 160: Stamper-Smith (H) p. Forney 1:45; 170: Garay (H) p. Lybrand 2:50; 182: Verhoff (WO) won by forfeit; 195: Lee (WO) won by forfeit; 220: Thompson (WO) p. Dahart 2:16; HWT: Martin (H) p. Thomas 1:23.
