Rams win four of six singles matches

The Havelock High girls tennis team defeated White Oak 6-3 Thursday in Jacksonville.

The Rams won four of the six singles matches, and clinched the victory with two wins in doubles.

In singles for Havelock, Chelsea Parkhill defeated Sabrina Yaker 6-4, 6-1; Ali Wickman downed Taylor Blackmon 6-4, 6-3, Kellie Adams handled Laura Milewski 6-1, 6-0; and Erica Quinn beat Katie Myers 6-2, 6-0. Dana Taylor lost 6-0, 6-2 to Tia Decker, while Madison Meyes lost a tough one to Sarah Hambright 3-6, 6-1 (10-3).

In doubles, Parkhill/Wickman beat Yaker/Blackmon 8-2, and Adams/Quinn blanked Milewski/Abad 8-0. The team of Taylor/Meyes lost 8-5 to Decker/Hambright

Havelock is next scheduled to play D.H. Conley at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Havelock High.
