“But, the good thing about football is we’ve got another week coming up, so we’ll get better next week.”

In the second half, Sabdo threw a 23-yard wide receiver screen touchdown to Kyran Bowman for a 34-7 lead.

Northside got quarterback Jake Erickson’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Josh Cabrera and a two-point pass from Erickson to Matt Pinto, narrowing the margin to 34-15 with 11 minutes left in the game.

Still, Northside struggled offensively on the night. Erickson was just 2 of 7 for 31 yards, and the Monarchs managed just 60 yards rushing on 40 carries. Kris Curry led Northside on the ground with 59 yards.

“I thought we battled. We competed,” Eason said. “We played hard. I thought we played good in spurts. Offensively, we didn’t help ourselves any. Our defense was on the field all night, but that’s a credit to Havelock’s defense.”

Havelock’s Akenno Godette returned a fumble 15 yards for a touchdown for the final margin. Godette had a sack in the contest, and Keion Joyner had two sacks and forced a fumble that Andrew Ramirez recovered for a Havelock team that has allowed just three offensive touchdowns through five games.

“I thought we played good,” Joyner said. “We had some minor mishaps on some plays, but other than that, I thought we did a good job.”
