“It has been a rollercoaster already,” Johnson said. “I didn’t expect a 2-2 start, but the guys are battling and improving. We have 13 seniors and they want more out of this season than just to play.”

The Rams defeated Northside in the season opener, lost to East Duplin and then fell to Laney Monday.

“It was tough to play Laney last night and get back to Havelock around midnight and turn around and play Rose tonight, so it has already been a long week,” Kemble said.

Havelock’s next match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Southwest Onslow.
