The Havelock Rams had the momentum early. They were attacking the goal, making runs and putting pressure on the opposing defense.

D.H. Conley took that all away with four-straight goals.

Havelock’s soccer team dropped its home-opener, 6-4, to D.H. Conley on Monday.

The Rams took a 3-2 lead following back-to-back goals by Dylan Baker and Christian Hoomana. Baker blasted his goal from beyond the penalty box. Hoomana, a freshman, knocked in a goal off a throw-in by Justin Kilgore with 20:32 remaining in the first half.

But after that, the ball stopped favoring Havelock.

Havelock’s Robert Steyers had his breakaway saved. Kilgore was denied. Zach Gardner hit a shot off the goalpost. Kilgore clanked his penalty kick off the post. Baker missed a header left of the goal and Jonathan Gares fired his shot over the net.

Havelock took 16 shots on goal.
