The more football camps Taylor Woods attends, the better his chances are of landing more Division I scholarship offers.

Woods shined at a recent camp at Ohio State. Havelock’s rising senior running back and linebacker caught the eye of several Division I coaches. Kent State offered him a scholarship on the spot, and Miami (Ohio) University showed interest.

"It makes me feel good," said Woods. "I’m glad they are giving me an opportunity to play at a Division I school."

Woods now has three scholarship offers — from Kent State, Elon and The Citadel.

Woods, along with Havelock teammates Derrell Scott and Michael Bowman, toured the campus of Ohio State, while also showcasing their skills to recruiters from throughout the region.

"It gave me exposure and a chance to show my skills," said Woods. "There were a lot of colleges there. It makes you nervous, but you just have to get through it."

Woods said he went through position drills, then had to take on linebackers in run-blocking drills. He didn’t even think about receiving any offers at the time.
