Rams dominate Currituck 49-0

Currituck, like most of Havelock’s opponents, could never find an offensive attack or get into a rhythm.

“Well, giving up two special teams scores don’t help you out any,” Currituck coach John Wheeler said. “But I think us having the opportunity again to play a tough opponent like Havelock will only help us going forward.

“There’s a reason they (Havelock) are a program that others want to model themselves after. Jim Bob (Bryant) has done a tremendous job building something great here. You look at No.24 (Scott) there picking up yard markers minutes after the game. He doesn’t have to but he wants to and I hope our kids can be like that as we go to 2A next year.”

The Rams (11-1) have beaten Currituck (3-8) in each of the last three postseasons.

Havelock is next scheduled to play Coastal 3A Conference foe Jacksonville in the second round at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams beat Jacksonville 42-12 on Oct. 12.
