Havelock's Scott picks Tennessee

Even Havelock head coach Jim Bob Bryant was unaware of Scott’s decision.

“I got to be a fan today like everybody else,” he said.

Scott, 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, said another reason why he selected Tennessee was the opportunity for early playing time.

“That was a reason why I went there, not the whole reason, but a pretty good reason,” Scott said. “I knew I could get a chance to get on the field and get an opportunity to play. The coaches told me that I would get an opportunity, so I’m just going to go in there and work hard and see what happens.”

Tennessee went 5-7 during the 2013 season, but Scott said he was impressed when he visited the Knoxville campus for a game and saw the support of fans in Neyland Stadium and the effort of the football team.

“Well, 110,000 people really speaks for itself,” he said of the Tennessee crowd. “Being there and seeing the atmosphere for the game, it was crazy. And, it was the way their team played. They didn’t have the best year, but everybody on the team, they fought the whole year and played hard. That said a lot to me.”

Scott said the recruiting process wasn’t easy.
