Matthew Boykin is the definition of an all-purpose football player.

He runs with the ball; he catches the ball; he returns kicks. He even intercepts the ball.

And then there’s the touchdowns. He likes the touchdowns most of all.

Havelock’s junior standout scored four of them — two receiving, one rushing and one on a  punt return — as the Rams beat West Carteret 67-0 last week.

“I just like scoring,” he said.

That’s a good thing, because Boykin leads Havelock with 18 touchdowns on the season. He has 11 touchdown catches, four touchdown runs and three touchdowns on punt returns, including a 65-yarder against West Carteret that helped Havelock to a 40-0 halftime lead.

“I wasn’t expecting to get that good of a bounce,” he said of the ball that landed short before he picked it up. “But, it bounced my way.”
