With its football players back on the court after the state championship game, the Havelock High boys basketball team picked up its first victory of the season with a 59-58 defeat of White Oak in a Coastal 3A Conference game Tuesday night at Havelock High.

Jordan Cuthbertson, a defensive back on the football team, hit one of two free throws with 3.7 seconds left, and White Oak missed a last-second shot, giving the Rams the margin of victory.
