There is something special about when everything comes together at just the right time.

That is happening right now for the Havelock Rams football team.

Havelock rode the effort of an impenetrable defense and huge rushing nights from Derrell Scott and Taylor Woods to shut out Jacksonville 46-0 in the second round of the state playoffs on Friday.

Through two playoff games, the Rams have outscored their opponents, 95-0.

“We wanted to shut them out. That was one of our goals coming into the game,” Havelock coach Jim Bob Bryant said.

“Derrell (Scott) ran the ball hard tonight. I wanted to get him at least 15 carries, and Taylor (Woods) ran the ball very hard also. It was a team effort and I think the game went as good as we wanted it to.”

The Rams got off to a slow start by their standards, leading 13-0 after one quarter, but turned up the heat to balloon the advantage to 32-0 at the half.
