Havelock loses first league contest of the season

Last week, Havelock’s boys beat Washington 75-57 in a league contest, ending a two-game losing streak.

The Rams had five players in double figures and shot 53 percent from the field for the contest.

Zack Bruns led Havelock with 19 points, while Pharoh Cooper came off the bench to hit for 14 points with seven rebounds. Matt Prichard totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Matt Boykin also had 12 points and Michael Bowman totaled 11 points.

The Rams jumped out to a 19-12 lead in the first quarter and maintained the advantage at halftime, 37-30.

Havelock began to pull away in the third quarter, stretching the lead to 58-45, and then held Washington to just 12 points in the fourth quarter to get the victory.

The Havelock girls lost 50-45 to Washington. Details of the game were unavailable.
